Wow What a Season!

This has been a great ski season! When you are in the middle of it -- cold and snowy it seems as though it will never end. Now here we are April 7th and it went out with a bang. The snow started falling the first day of Spring and didn't stop until closing day. How convenient was that to have 2 days of sun to finish it all out!

We started skiing November 28th, Saturday -- the kids took a break Thursday and we skied through Sunday the 5th. 7 out of 9 days -- not bad!

Grant cycled through the mountain. He didn't leave much to ski next year! First time down Central Gully into Cheyenne Bowl -- First time down Broadway chute. It sure helps to follow the Doyle family and Emery Rheam around!

Annabel skied 13+ days and snowboarded 10 days -- Tomi had more days in at Trail Creek than I can count and finished off his 10 day ski pass adding 3 more days! Grant skied 27 days, not bad for a 5 year old!

1st Tram!

February 21 2009 1st Tram

February 28 2009
2nd Tram --

"I know John this is my second tram" And.. as John waits while Grant skis the bowl, Grant looks up at me and says "Mom, I'm faster than Uncle Johnny!"

Morgan and Grant on the Tram, camera photo thanks to Mary Patno and window seat thanks to Hailey Patno! 3:30 PM crystal clear beautiful and sunny! We had a great ski down.

Grant told Holly (his hairdresser) the story about his ski and she asked if he had fun. He replied, Of Course! I was with my friend Morgan!!

So all week Grant longingly looks up at Snow King... asking to ski! It didn't work out this week but today after ski lessons, we were back up in the tram line. He was so excited to see Uncle Johnny!! We skied down till John and Julia peeled off into the Hobacks...

February and still skiing (and snowboarding!)

We are still skiing (fancy that)! Annabel had her big day today! She "rode" down Rendezvous Bowl. It was her first time down the bowl, and her first time was on a snowboard.

Wow! She is very lucky because her snowboard group is very small. There is one other kid named Charlie. They really have some good quality time!

Grant Skiing January 2009

Here is Grant on his favorite run. Take the Gondola over to the Thunder Chair. Cut far skier right to the trees and bumps under toilet bowl. Then shorten your skis and shred!

or how about this one of the boys:

Inauguration 2009

0 degrees in Jackson Hole. Grant and I drove out to Uncle Johnny's house and watched history - you bet, "Orak Obama Go.." as Grant says! Tomi watched at school -- I couldn't possibly say anything that anybody else in the country hasn't already written! I guess when I think of our new president I just think about how cool he is and how he really is somebody that you would be sitting next to at a restaurant or somebody you are waiting behind in line at the post office!

New Year's Eve, Torchlight Parade

December 31, 2008 -- Torchlight on Snow King. This is the highlight of the New Year! We had a stellar evening, lightly snowing right at the end of the ski when the fireworks started. Jim Sullivan said about 180 skiers attended, this was the record! Thanks to Jim for keeping it open and low-key. We run into people we don't see all year. The atmosphere is all hugs and good cheer. John even made it in between setting up for the big new years bash and actually playing.
